I was called in by the Metropolitan Police to attend

a fox incident in Hackney, London at around 5am

in the morning.

It turned out that a horrific attack by a fox (believed

to be a vixen) on two 9 month old twins whilst sleeping

separately in their cot's had taken place hours before.

Over a 2 week period, I assisted the Metropolitan

Police and Hackney Council's Emergency Planning

Department in order to carry out a monitoring

trapping treatment in the grounds of the Hackney

property in order to screen for notifiable diseases.

Some other pest control companies claimed to have

'responded' to the incident; in fact  by way of delivering

leaflets in order to drum-up new business out of the appalling

events.

BBC1 Countryfile at a London School.

Televised on Sunday the 3rd of October 2010

The broadcast included an interview with Ali Bradwell, the latest

victim of a fox attack in East London, who explained how 30

years ago, when she first moved to London, seeing an urban

fox was a rare and rather magical occurrence. "Today rather like

hoodies they hang around in groups of four to six on street

corners," she said.

The programme didn't shy away from the realities of pest control either.

John Craven accompanied professional pest controller

Steve Barron as he took steps to protect a school play area

in East London.

The children were out playing, so this was not a case of the school

overreacting.

His overnight trapping was successful.

The captured fox was despatch by shooting which was described by

Mr Craven as 'quick, clinical and legal although not pleasant'.

Steve agreed: "It's not a pleasant job, but we can't have foxes here

in this play area."
